St. Harriet High School is a private institution situated just outside Murewa Cbd in Mashonaland east Province of Zimbabwe. The school’s total ground coverage is approximately 10 hectares. The school board, management and team have been working tirelessly since its inception to make a realization of a top class provincial and regional high performing school whose deliverables are tangible and realistic. This will only be realized with a school of this caliber, offering a teacher student ratio of 1:25.

A state of the art school, presumably one of the best structures in the region is being constructed on site. Due to its beauty and upper-class, the time-line for its construction may be longer than expected if the economic meltdown continues on the downward trend. This however, may deprive the intended beneficiaries of their benefits. As a result, whilst works are continuing on the main structure, as seen in the above picture, works also began on the construction of structures that will be used to pilot the learning process. The contractor is the Zimbabwe Prison and Correctional Services under the professional guidance of qualified and experienced builders.

Currently, there are 2 projects running side by side. The main project that is projected to be completed by 2022, and the pilot project that is expected to open its doors for 2020 enrolment. The picture above shows the main project overview while the one below shows the current structures of the pilot project.many challenges, including financial, have retarded an otherwise achievable target.

Preamble

The St. Harriet School project started in 2018. When the main project began, it faced many challenges associated with the economic melt down. This resulted in severe material scarcity that halted the project. The ideal vision and completion of the school structure was greatly affected. Notable are the project’s base columns which are predominantly steel on concrete.

The country wide cement shortage did not spare us. A decision then, in February 2019 thereabouts made to effect the construction of a “temporary structure” that will be the forerunner. Construction commenced in March 2019 to date. Like many Zimbabwean projects, many stoppages were experienced due to an unstable economy.
